So, It's Christmas!! I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself! But, I am know going to fill you in on the happing in St.Wolstan's last week plus this week as I never gave you my weekly update I usually give on a Friday!
Monday was quite an epic day altogether! It began with a Mini Co. idea with Orla, as we missed one of them(the day we saw Skyfall!) and she told us all about marketing! But after break was when all the fun went down! We had our JunkKoutre fashion show! Well, I have to say it was such a good time! Unfortunately ours was a bit different then how we intended as on Friday our skirt, we just couldn't use, so over the weekend we decided to crochet a skirt as our theme was nature and wool comes from sheep and they are natural! We also had a slight panic as we had no music but some of the girls came to our rescue and let us use there I-Pod! The fashion show itself was so cool, we got to see the designs of all the groups which was good too! It was all in all a really fun fashion show! Later on that day we had double Science on Ms.B got us to draw posters on different areas of botany we studied! Our group did plant reproduction!
Tuesday was also a fun day too! We had double Tech. with Mr.W which always promises to be fun! I finally finished the main part of my clock, I had this weird filing to do and I have been putting it off for a couple of weeks and I also melted my piece too! Later on that day we had Home Ec. and we made cupcakes with blue icing! They were absolutely yummy!!!
On Wednesday we had workshops all day! They were by Trocaire, Concern and Self-Help Africa they were really interesting and the Self-Help Africa one was really informative about the exploitation of first world countries to the third world countries such as the rose industry in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Thursday was a very interesting day! Well, it began with a religion class with Ms.G and then a very interesting History class with Ms.C about how Hansel and Gretel was based on a true story! As part of My Young Scientist Project we had to do one of our experiments! We had to go to the local boys school and measure their height and weight of their school bags! After that we had Careers and English with Ms.W
On Friday we went to the ballet, it was so brilliant! I had a really good time! They performed The Nutcracker and A Christmas Tale!
I was absent on Monday! On Tuesday our Christmas Exams began! We had Spanish, English and Religion! Then we had Wednesday and we had Maths and Irish!!
On Thursday we had a fun day! Class Cairdeas put on a Christmas party and we exchanged our Kriskindle presents! After this we went bowling! It was soooooo much fun!

So, its that time of the week when I have to tell you all about my week in TY! It all began on Monday, first class we had Art, and it was stressful! Our fashion show is on Monday so that meant we had a week to finish, and lets just say we were not even nearly ready! The we had P.E the girls were doing relays but I forgot my gear which was bad! Then we had Irish and we started a debate! It was all very interesting! Later on that day we had Science with Ms.B and we did an experiment on the effect of light intensity on photosynthesis! Tuesday came in a flash and we had religion first, which meant acting out our Homeless drama! Then we had Tech. with Mr.W were I continued on my clock and learned that our group didn't get through to the F1 in Schools! Also on Tuesday for our Young Scientist Project we had to go to Maynooth for an interview with a physiotherapist. We got lots of tips on how to make our experiment more accurate! It was really fun and interesting! When I got back I h+ad double Home Ec. which meant JunkKoutre and lots of worries as we still hadn't started our shoes! Wednesday we had Work Experience and It was our last day! On Thursday we had Religion were we practiced our drama again. We had History with Ms.C and we looked at the Peterson Projection and we talked about how maps can really be drawn anyway which was kinda hard to get our heads around at the start. We had Irish too and it was debate time! I was very nervous but luckily Ciara and I won! Then we had Mini-Company and we worked on our logo and design. Then we had English with Ms.W when we worked on our Life Story Project! Now it's Friday and we have had a packed day! We had Spanish in the morning and we worked on our vocab for Locality! We also had Music which meant it was time to sing!! We sang the Ed Sheeran song Give me love and we sang Christmas carols too! In Geography two girls gave a presentation on Japan and they made Dango Balls and to be honest they weren't the nicest tasting thing I've ever had! Then We had Design with Ms.H and disaster struck!!! Our skirt that we have spent ages trying to make just didn't work! It was a disaster! So now we have to make a new skirt in one weekend! Wish me luck! Over and Out, Corrie
Well, it's that time of the week again where I am going to tell you all about my week! So, my week started out on Thursday because I was absent on the other days! So on Thursday morning we had a talk on homelessness and the Simon Community. Ms. O'S gave it to us because she has first hand experience with the Simon Community! She told us there is other things for people to do for the homeless other than just giving them soup. It was very interesting to hear about! Later on we had History with Ms.C and she showed us pictures of different castles and how they changed from a defensive home to palaces really! We had Spanish and since it was Thursday we got to watch some of our movie! Which is really good! In Irish with Ms.B we read a drama called Deirdre's Sorrow! After that we had Mini Company! Our Mini Company is coming along good we should be ready to sell in a few weeks! In Careers we started to do a person spec. for a job! I also had Ms. W for English so that meant we worked on our life story presentation which will be really cool when it's finished!
On Friday the day started out really good! Our first class was Maths and since we are doing Cryptography we are watching the Nicholas Cage movie National Treasure! It is such a good movie! We had Spanish too and Ms.M told us what number we would be for our orals with is really exciting because I've never done a proper oral before! In Religion we worked on our drama a bit more. We had a really fun Music class with Ms.S we song the song "I Follow Rivers" by Lykke Li which was the song we all sung in Carlingford so there was good memories too! Then we tried to play it on piano, I wasn't very good but I had fun trying! We had Geography and we going to do a case study on the hair industry in India which will be really cool I think! We had Design after that which meant JunkKoutre and we decided that we were going to feather the back of the top too! But disaster struck, our skirt went all black so we have to re-leave it again but there are no more green leaves left so it's going to be brown instead! Hopefully it will look okay! So, it's the second week after mid term and I am still going strong! It has been another fun packed week in TY. It started off on Monday in Art which means it was time for Junk Koutre! We started sewing on the feathers onto our top! which proved to be an awkward job! On Tuesday I had Tech. with Mr. W which was really fun! We all worked on our Formula 1 project which I am Team Manager on! We also started Cryptography in Maths which is really interesting! Then we had Home Ec. were we continued to sew on the feathers and fixed up the head piece which is back to being a birds nest! Wednesday was next and I had Work Experience! On Thursday we had Mini-Company and I started to design a poster for advertising and we also came up with a name and slogan! we are now called "SportScope" and our slogan is "Shoot for the Stars." I also had English with Ms.W and we worked on our Life Story Presentation which will be really cool when it's finished! We also started watching a new movie in Spanish! So far it looks good! On Friday we had Religion with Ms.G and we entered into a drama contest! Our group is doing it on homelessness and how people look down on homeless people even though it could very easily be them on the streets! I wrote a rough outline of the script and some of the girls looked at music and lighting too! We also had Music were we are learning the piano, I am not very good but I enjoy it all the same! We had Design too so that meant more JunkKoutre and we finished our feathers and are starting to fill in the white gaps on the top with felt that's blue so it looks like the sky! I had I.T too on Friday and Mrs.L was telling us how she would like us to make a video of the school so all incoming first years could have a proper look around the school! We started making a list on how we would like to film it and if it all goes to plan it will be deadly! I guess that's it for this week! Over and Out, Corrie!
Well, It's November already! My first week after mid-term and I have to say it's been one of the best so far! Well, it all began on Monday when we had Art which meant more JunkKoutre! We figured out how to make our owls body stick onto the t-shirt! After that we had P.E with Mr. L, which is not my best subject(I'm not the best at sport!) but we did High Jump which I was surprised, I wasn't that awful at it! On Monday, we also had English which was good because we talked about the song Viva La Vida by Coldplay as a poem which was really interesting! Tuesday came and went in a flash! We had Religion, and we watched the debate on the Children's referendum, I liked this because it actually effects me! Then came Tech. with Mr.W and we did more work on the Formula 1 Competition which I['m really starting to get into! It's so fun! We had Home Ec. with Ms.McC in the afternoon and that meant more JunkKoutre! We tried to stick on our owl and it didn't go to plan, but we soon figured out what wen had to do and we got half of it done! Wednesday I had work experience, so look at my other blog to find out all about that! Then it was Thursday, one of the best days of school so far. It began just as normal, and we all headed out to the Odeon Cinema in Naas for our Mini-Company Meeting but the lady from the Enterprise Board was unfortunately sick! That was bad for her but kinda brilliant for us because we got to watch ... Skyfall!!! The new James Bond movie! Which I have been dying to see! It is absolutely amazing! I loved it! to top it all off we all got popcorn, jellies, drinks and these cool cups! It was the best!
Well, it's that time of year again! HALLOWEEN! :D We had our annual dress up day ! This year we were ZOMBIES! How scary ?! The first years were witches, second years were pirates, third years were SuperHeroes, fifth years were clowns and sixth year were Harry Potter characters! As a zombie, I ripped up my jeans, shredded up a t-shirt and then I stuck on some pale face paint! It wasn't my most attractive moment I have to say but it looked good all the same ! Earlier on in the week in Tech. with Mr. W we started on our formula one project! Which I have to say I am very excited about! Even though I'm not the best at Tech. I'll give it a go! Also, we had JunkKoutre! We have changed our headpiece again! Now we are going to do a bird's nest! We were even thinking about maybe changing the back of the skirt to a more metallic look so we could show the comparison of nature against industry, but were not too sure yet! It would be very difficult! I also had Mini Company, we have decided to do a Sports Skills app! It should sell(hopefully) ! I thinks that's it for another week! Hello Again! Well, It's the Fourth Friday of TY! Which is a bit crazy, well I think so anyway! So, my class didn't win the Fun Walk! I'm sure it was a fix(not really, our dance was more than just a bit off) So, I'll be starting the review of my week on Tuesday(I was out on Monday!) Well, then, Tuesday I had Home Ec. which meant Junk Koutre! We have our headpiece perfectly designed! We are going to do a tree-house! On Wednesday I had my work experience(check out my workexp. blog for all the gossip there!). Thursday then came, in Spanish we watched the movie"El Bolo" which means The Pellet, everything is just starting to get exciting! Then in History our class perfected the Mexican wave,( Ms.C wasn't impressed) and we learned about King Edward the Second and the very painful way he died(I'm not even repeating it, it's very icky!) Next we had Mini Company and we had to change our product ! Now we are doing i-pod speakers that are waterproofed, so if know anybody that wants some, give us a call ;D ;) Now, it's Friday and this week is over(sad face). We had design today and we started to make our headpiece! Everything is starting to come together nicely! I suppose that's all I really have to report, Over and Out :D
Well, on Friday we had our annual Fun Walk! Which always promises to be great fun and this year was no exception! So, being in TY our colour was YELLOW! It was surprisingly difficult to find a yellow t shirt(most things are mustard!) but I got there in the end! After a lot of deliberation we all finally decided to dress up as yellow Lego blocks(because that's just how cool we are!) We chose the song Hey Ya by Outkast to do a little dance to!It was very cool! On the day our dance was a bit off because we got out of sync with the music but you could hardly notice it(I think, I hope!!) Well, in our school during the Fun Walk our job is to direct all the other students where to go which is quite fun(power trip whooop!!!) Me and Caitlin were stationed at the First set of traffic lights with Mr.H which was really fun! He gave us jellies(yum!) which is always a good time! It was really funny because all the cars kept beeping their horns at us! After directing all the girls through the walk we headed back to school were we got a free drink(diet coke!!) and had a bit of a dance! After that it was all over for another year and luckily the rain stayed away! The winners are announced Monday, so wish us all luck!! Over and Out !
Well, it's October already and I can hardly believe I've been in TY a month now, time has just flown by!! I'm doing my second week of work experience tomorrow(wish me luck!) But so far this week, My group in Junk Koutre has completely finished the front of our skirt! (Yes!!) and nearly finished the back,it would have been done by now apart from all the rain that is absolutely saturating all the leaves! We designed our headpiece too! We've decided to to make a tree-house, tyre swing and all! Also, I had Tech. as-well which I am glad to report am really enjoying even though I'm shockingly bad at it ! Started to cut out my clock which doesn't really look like a clock(Or more than likely ever will look like a clock especially with the way I use a file and saw!) In Science this week we did another cool experiment! We got to make volcanoes!(Our groups was the best!)It was a really fun way of learning about acids and bases !! I also went to the "Green Schools" meeting which I am happy to say is really interesting! Also, I had choir practice which was fun too! Well, that's it so far this week,Over and out, Corrie !
This was the most epic week of my life ! I got to go to Carlingford with my fellow TY's ! :D It began with a lot of packing sweets and warm woolies! Then it was an early start on Monday! On the bus to the adventure centre we watched Tangled which is quite a cool movie ! Then we arrived and got split into 2 groups and sorted out the rooms. I shared a room with 11 other girls and that in itself was an experience ! The first task we endured was laser tag ! The best fun ever ! Walking around carlingford village in an army suit and fake guns! It was immense ! Then we had lunch, beans,chips and sausage rolls ! Then we had kayaking ! It was difficult.... My arms were killing me after !! That night we did the Night Line Walk which was scary ! Stumbling around the forest at night time with a blindfold on and the instructors pouring water over us and rubbing leaves against us ! So scary !! That night we had a mini party in our room eating our weight in sweets, chocolate and crisps! Surprisingly we were all out cold by 12:30 ! The next morning started off with us having to clean our rooms (not a fun time) but then soon improved with the news that we would be zorbing ! Which is when we were strapped into a giant rubber ball and pushed down a hill ! Then we had high ropes and challenges which were deadly ! Much to my sadness it was time to leave and say bye to all the instructors who we all came to love. Over and Out, Corrie :D
Well, It's the second week in Transition Year! I have to say it's been a bit crazy ! It started off with trying to make a skirt out of newspaper and chicken wire in Junk Koutre! We decided on a paper mache, we used so much glue ! Then we had Tech which was really cool because I got to use the hack-saw and the pillar drill which was quite a big deal for me! Then Wednesday came, the day of reckoning ! The day of our Junior Cert results! My nerves were on edge but everything was good ! I done really well! (Hooray!) Then I had a great night ! I went to a disco with my friends and had a blast ! The next day, feeling very tired I headed back to school and had a great day, in Mini Company we brainstormed things to sell to our fellow pupils! It was a good day ! Then on Friday I has a great Music class, learning to play "We Will Rock You" on guitar and I have to admit I'm not very good ! So, that's it really ! Over and Out, Corrie!
This is really exciting ! My first ever blog ! So, I had my first week in transition year and it really was a whirlwind adventure ! Between designing dresses in Junk Kouture and trying to mark my key ring in Tech. I've had a brilliant week. Everything is so new and different but I can really feel myself easing into this new fun school year ! I had really fun workshops on Wednesday and learnt a lot about presentation, positivity , and planning !
